i watched the movie and had to see the TV show!!!
I wouldn't say that too loudly. The movie is a ridiculously sensitive Berserk Button in the fanbase.

I was 6 years old when I saw the first commercial for it on Nick. Me and my brother loved everything that had the word action in it, so when it came on, I watched every 44 minutes of the first episode.

TV: The brand new series, Avatar: The Last Airbender premieres...NOW!
Me: This is gonna rock. I wanna see spears, a-and some...swords and some...uh...fighting...a-and...action and stuff...AND ACTION!

When I first saw a commercial for it, I though it looked really stupid. My mom also told me not to watch it because it was way different to our beliefs. She thought it was all magic and stuff. Then when the fourth episode aired, I watched it and very quickly fell in love and I never missed a new one after that. Every week at the same time I was sitting there like Shocked

AirMaster... You're... 11?

AN 11-YEAR-OLD WHO CAN TYPE PROPERLY?

Welcome to the the team. *Pats AM on back*

@PJ

Lulz. My friend couldn't read HP or Animorphs for that reason.

I'll admit to completely losing track of the second and .5 of the third season.

I didn't even know they had aired until... quite a while afterwards.

When Avatar first came out, I swore up and down I would not watch it.  I called it stupid and dumb.  I saw bits of it and would just get annoyed.

Then when we got digital cable I saw it advertised on Nick Toons. They were talking about the grace of the benders and the passion of the warriors.  It was the Day Of The Black Sun episode being advertised.  There was nothing else on so I thought I'd watch it for the heck of it.  I knew enough to know Zuko had a ponytail before, I was like, "Wow, he has hair."  As I watched it, I thought, "Geez, this is really good."  I ended up getting so hooked that I missed other tv shows for it, got my little boy and mother into it as well.  Even though I have all three boxed sets, I still watch it on Nick Toons.

I cannot believe there was a time I thought it was stupid, that I wouldn't give it a chance.  Now, it's one of my favorite shows.

Part of the reason I didn't give it a chance was the anime factor, unfortunately, my brither shoved anime down my throat way too often.

But, I am so glad I ended up liking Avatar, I only wish it had more episodes. I know Bryan and Mike didn't want a never ending story, but there are some loose ends they could have tied up, there were more stories that could have been told.
i saw how hot zuko is and i was hooked
